AUSTIN FOUNDING PILOT · COMING SOON

A new platform from the Maternal Wellness Content Lab

Milk Mutual

Human milk sharing, chosen together.

A local, donation-based network where people offering and seeking human milk can find one another according to the information, preferences, and boundaries they choose to share.

The Austin pilot is currently being developed. Early participants will help shape the platform before its public launch.

OFFER

Share what is available.

Create a living milk offer with the information and boundaries you feel comfortable sharing.

MUTUAL
CHOICE

SEEK

Describe what matters to you.

Explore offers according to your location, needs, preferences, and personal comfort.

Not a marketplace. Not a donor ranking system. Not an algorithm deciding for families. A mutual care network.

THE BIGGER IDEA

Extending the warm chain into community care.

Families should not have to post urgent feeding needs into a crowded Facebook group, reveal private information publicly, or already know every question they need to ask.

Milk Mutual is being designed to create a clearer, more private pathway between people with milk to offer and people seeking milk for their families.

Donors and recipients will decide what information to share, whose profile they want to explore, and whether they want to connect. The platform will organize the process. The people involved will make the decision.

Milk Mutual is built around informed, person-to-person choice—not platform endorsement.

THE FOUNDING FRAMEWORK

How Milk Mutual will work

The first version will focus on making local milk-sharing connections easier to navigate, more private, and more responsive to individual preferences.

01

Offer or request

Create a current milk offer or request and choose which details you are comfortable sharing.

02

Explore overlap

Find people nearby whose stated availability, needs, and preferences may overlap with yours.

03

Choose together

Express interest privately. Both people review the available information and independently choose whether to connect.

04

Connect privately

Contact information is released only after mutual consent. The people involved decide what happens next.

PERSONAL, NOT PRESCRIPTIVE

Built around what matters to each person.

There is no single definition of the perfect milk-sharing connection. The platform will help people organize and compare self-reported information without turning personal preferences into a score, ranking, or declaration of safety.

Approximate distance Fresh or frozen Available quantity Expression dates One-time or ongoing Storage information Dietary considerations Medications and supplements Lifestyle disclosures Pickup availability Communication preferences Personal boundaries

HUMAN BY DESIGN

More than a searchable list

Living milk offers

Offers can reflect current quantity, availability, pickup preferences, and whether the donor is open to a one-time or continuing arrangement.

Mutual consent

One person expressing interest does not automatically create a connection. Both people must choose to proceed.

Private by default

Exact addresses and direct contact information will not be displayed publicly.

No public rankings

Donors will not be scored, rated, or promoted according to popularity.

Flexible relationships

People can seek a single exchange, an ongoing arrangement, or a small local circle of support.

Community-shaped

The questions, filters, language, and connection process will evolve through feedback from real donors and recipient families.

MILK MUTUAL ATX

Help shape the founding pilot.

Milk Mutual is being built alongside Austin families, milk donors, feeding professionals, and community advocates—not handed to the community as a finished system based on assumptions.

Early participants will help identify which information matters, what makes an interaction feel respectful, and what would make community milk sharing easier to navigate.

MORE INFORMATION COMING SOON

Community care deserves better infrastructure.

Milk Mutual is being developed as a peer-to-peer connection platform. It will not test, screen, approve, rank, or guarantee donors or donated milk. Participants will decide what information to share, whom to contact, and whether to proceed. Milk itself will not be bought or sold through Milk Mutual.
